Right now I'm up at my parent's place, away from my own computer and access to my photos. It's great being able to spend time with the family clan and The Little Man. But it's been hard to be away from the computer. What's wrong with me??? Never mind, don't answer that! I have several things to report on, including the Spring Forward socks being competed and blocked, Aunt Suz's socks fit (yeah!), and the wrap that I'm working up for mom for daughterly hugs once I head back south again. But all of those will have to wait until I regain access to my own computer and photos. For now, let's just report on the SP12 question of the week again.
What is your favorite type of project to take along on holiday/vacation?If you'd like to share a story…Tell us about a time that you packed too much knitting or were stranded without knitting.
Well, since technically I'm on vacation now I guess I should admit to what's in the bag at the moment. Well, there's mom's wrap - something simple to knit without paying too much attention. It's a four row repeat with only one of those rows where I actually have to pay attention to my count. That way I can visit and chat and be social with others and still have something to knit on. It's easy enough to take along in the car while running errands or going with mom to the doctor's office and it's mindless in the evening while winding down. I also have that pair of aqua whatever socks in the bag to be worked on. But sadly they haven't come out to play yet on this trip. I'm really hoping to get mom's wrap finished so that I can leave it here with her when I head back home. And there's only so much knitting time in my day today seeing as I got to have The Little Man all day and didn't want to miss a minute of that!!!
I generally pack too much knitting, or at least more knitting than I would ever get done on a trip. Kind of like how I pack my clothing too. I like to have options. What if the item that I pack I just didn't feel like working with at the moment? Then I'm stuck with nothing, and we wouldn't want that now would we? Having a few projects to choose from with hopefully feed into my mood at any given particular time.

The only time I was stranded without knitting was when I forgot to put in my suitcase adn it was confiscated from hand luggage. Boy was I miffed. I nearly always take too much. Even going to work I take two pieces which is completely excessive.
I carefully chose patterns, needles, and yarn to knit up some dishcloths while traveling to and from teacher's convention last year. When I started taking things out of my bag I found that I'd forgotten to grab the needles.
No needles!! And since I wasn't driving, there was no trip to Michael's, either.
